"Hatti poured 1/4 of the water from Tank P into Tank Q to fill it to the brim, "

that means the empty space in tank Q is equal to 1/4 of tank P

1/4 of tank P → length x breadth x height (8cm) = 25 x 9 x 8 = 1800 cm³

water left in tank P (fraction) → 1 - 1/4 = 3/4

1/4 of water tank P → 1800 3/4 of water tank P → 1800 x 3 = 5400 cm³

water pour to tank P → full tank Q - water left

full tank Q → 25 x 9 x (15 + 8) = 5,175

water pour to tank P → full tank Q - water left = 5175 - 2775 = 2,400

total capacity of tank P → 5400 + 2400 = 7800 cm³ = 7.8 litres
