"Container X measures 36 cm by 16 cm by 24 cm and was 2/3 filled with water. "

container x that is 2/3 filled → 2/3 x volume = 2/3 x 36 x 16 x 24 = 9216 cm³

sam filled container Y to the brim with water from container X without spilling. After that, container X was left with 4 ℓ of water.

which means that the amount poured is container x at first minus of container x in the end, which is the capacity of y

4 litres → 4000 cm³

capacity of Y = 9216 - 4000 = 5216 cm³
